The Costa del Sol is easily accessed through Málaga Airport. Most of the traffic handled by the airport is from the European Union. London-Gatwick is the destination with the greatest number of passengers, followed by Manchester, Dublin, London-Luton, Paris Charles De Gaulle and Brussels.

Málaga Airport also has scheduled flights to the rest of Spain, most significantly to Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca and is currenlty undergoing a major infrastructure upgrade, both in the terminal area and on the airfield, as part of “Plan Malaga”.

Malaga 2

The Costa del Sol takes up about 300 kilometers of the Mediterranean littoral zone that is the province of Malaga. Protected from the northern winds by a mountain chain, this sheltered coast is shaped by a succession of extensive beaches, coves hidden between cliffs, yachting marinas and fishing ports. The mild climate, infrequency of rainfall, and the sea breeze make for semitropical vegetation in which palm and cypress trees, bougainvillaea, oleander and hibiscus are common. Residential areas, marinas, golf clubs, entertainment centers, nightclubs and many more tourist attractions have been built and now coexist within the peaceful ambience of country villages.
