The Clients
venuesmalta.com put together a venue packed familiarisation trip for event professionals to offer a sample experience for conference hotels Malta has to offer. A rich and diverse group of events professionals were selected from the high influx of applicants. This group of event planners and assistants joined us from all over Europe, from various sectors including global tech companies, financial sector, medical organisations and multinational luxury goods corporations.
The itinerary was strategically designed to offer a productive pace of visiting conference venues in Malta, a taste of the various local cuisines and service standards, and of course an opportunity to experience the multitude of cultural activities available for offsite excursions.
We would like to thank Air Malta and the Hilton Hotel Malta for sponsoring the event with flights and accommodation for the 4 days, and also to the Visit Malta tourism board for donating the welcome packs and information for our guests upon arrival.

Location Malta
Malta is a hidden jewel for event planners, with multiple venues and conference hotels all situated in short proximity to each other. With increasingly regular flight schedules from all over Europe as well as direct flights daily from Dubai, Malta is becoming increasingly accessible and affordable to get to. Maltese people speak both English and Maltese as their first languages, in fact the fascinating Maltese history has resulted in a colourful and unique fusion of culinary, architectural and lifestyle influences from Italian, British and Arab descent. Malta is the largest of the three islands, followed by Gozo and Comino. The low lying lands are free of mountains and rivers, and instead are vastly surrounded by blue sea and salt air. The shoreline is 137 kilometres and consists of some of the most beautiful alcove beaches, harbours and rocky coves. The summer lasts for most of the year throughout Malta, with summers continuing right into November. This warm but mild weather ensures and ideal climate for outdoor events year round.
Conference Hotels Malta
Throughout the three days 10 conference venues in Malta were visited, ranging from corporate centres catering for 1,700, to elegant renaissance inspired palazzos. Enjoy open air drinks receptions by the pool, or alternatively treat your delegates to a stroll into the past with a medieval banquets and entertainment.
Challenges
Managing delegates from various locations will often require flexibility and backup preparation in anticipation of the unexpected, hence reducing the likelihood of serious challenges. In this case there were requirements regarding visa approvals, a delayed flight, and a last minute transfer changes. For outdoor events and activities, indoor options were always available in the unlikely case of weather restrictions.
Solutions
Contact was made with the local embassy in order to arrange the required travel visa. When one of the flights was delayed on arrival, slight adjustments were made to the day’s schedule and maintained regular communication with the group in order to prepare back up transfer services when needed.
Highlights
The Hilton Hotel Malta graciously closed off their residence Quarterdeck Bar in order to cater for our welcome lunch and meeting. The dome ceiling mural and the waterfront view from the terrace were received very well by our guests. In fact the service at the hotel throughout the few days was fantastic, and according to the group feedback the Hilton Malta was rated as excellent by all. “I could not be happier with the overall experience I’ve had in Hilton, absolutely top notch in every sense – I was more than pleased both privately and also from a business perspective.” (N.K, Stamford Global)
Some other highlights from the trip would have to include the speedboat transfer to and from Gozo Island, the kayaking experience at the blue lagoon, and the Night Cruise at Sliema Harbour.
The Limoncello demonstration and tasting at the Limestone Heritage Centre was one to remember, as well as the cooking class at the local bakery. The stunning gardens of the Palazzo Parisio and the incredible amphitheatres and medieval conference centres certainly left a lasting impression.
