The Czech Republic is open for business events, with up to 2,000 people outside and 1,000 indoors allowed to take part, but several hygiene rules must be followed. See the guidelines here in more detail.

NEW / RECENT HOTEL OPENINGS

Prague Marriott Hotel has almost doubled up the number of rooms by adding the adjoining building. The hotel now offers 416 guest rooms.

ANDAZ is coming to Prague in summer 2022: Andaz Sugar Palace will offer 175 rooms in the former building of the Sugar Industry Insurance Association, a neoclassical building from 1916 that is listed as cultural monument.

FAIRMONT has taken over the building of the Hotel Intercontinental, which is currently undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment program and is expected to reopen in early 2023 as Fairmont Golden Prague:

  • 300 rooms on 8 floors including 49 suites

  • Restaurant on the 9th floor overlooking the roofs of the Old Town

Austria Update

There are no limitations on capacities for events in Austria, but delegates will need either proof of vaccination or recovery or a valid Covid-19 test. PCR tests, in Vienna only, are valid 48 hours and the Antigen tests 24 hours in advance of the event date. See the guidelines here.

Malta Update

Malta is open for business and is awaiting your next event enquiry!

In order to attend an event in Malta, you must be a recipient of a recognised Covid Vaccination Certificate. You can find the up-to-date guidelines here.

NEW / RECENT HOTEL OPENINGS

 The Hyatt Regency Malta– a new 5-star hotel located in St Julian’s with 151 rooms. For meetings & events, they provide 479 sq m of event spaces. They include event rooms, a unique 80 sq m luxurious rooftop event space and terrace, and the 193 sq m Regency Ballroom.

The Mercure Malta– a new 4-star hotel also located in St Julian’s with 113 rooms and a rooftop pool, ideal for incentive groups.

Other Highlights

There is a government scheme in place to support MICE events. This scheme is targeted to incentivise foreign corporate clients and associations for their MICE events in Malta and Gozo for 2021 & 2022. Contact the Malta team here for further information on how to benefit from the scheme.

Greece Update

Greece has weathered the Covid storm better than many countries in Europe. As of mid-September, customers need proof of vaccination or certification of recovery from Covid19 to enter cafes, bars and restaurants. Masks are required in all indoor settings. The measures are expected to remain in place until the end of March 2022. While unvaccinated people can still visit museums and archaeological sites as well as cinemas and sports venues, they will need proof of a recent negative PCR test. For more information, see here.

NEW / RECENT HOTEL OPENINGS

Brown Beach Sounio – A former abandoned hotel in Sounio is being converted into a 4-star unit that will also include conference facilities. The hotel includes 2 buildings on an area of 33 acres, with unobstructed sea views. It is expected to operate as a 4-star resort, with 179 rooms and suites. It will also include a swimming pool, spa facilities, a gym and a conference room with a capacity of 500 people. The new hotel unit is a 9-minute drive from the port of Lavrio, 40 minutes from Athens Airport, 15 minutes from the temple of Poseidon, 50 minutes from the center of Athens and 1 hour and 15 minutes from Piraeus Port. The project will be completed in 2022 with the aim of starting its operation in the next tourist season.

Turkey Update

Restrictions, lockdowns and curfews were completely lifted on July, 1st 2021. Measures are eased and vaccination has gained speed since June, 1st 2021.

All event venues and hotels are open as of July 1st. All types of events are allowed in certain regions and cities.  They operate under strict health and hygiene controls and measurement guidelines (e.g., no buffets, staff wearing masks). All hotels are in strict control and obliged to take part in a Certification Program implemented by the Ministry of Tourism, to operate under strict guidelines and criteria. Hotels are operating under strict government guidelines on social distancing, which dictates the capacities.

Dubai Update

Dubai is open and running events!

 Some of the guidelines are below:

  • Hotels & business events have returned to full occupancy, while entertainment venues have capacity limits of 70%.
  • Restaurants and cafes can operate at 80% capacity and can remain open until 3am.
  • Face masks are mandatory in public and in private gatherings and people are required to maintain physical distance from others.

EXPO 2020 UPDATE (October 2021 – March 2022)

Expo 2020 has been a long time coming. It’s set to take place in October 2021, after its original 2020 schedule had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. Expo 2020 aims to increase awareness about the challenges faced by humanity on a global scale. It is the world’s largest meeting place and offers many opportunities such as networking and promoting international relationships.

Covid-19: New rapid PCR tests at Dubai Airports to give results in 3-4 hours. Dubai Airports is setting up a laboratory to conduct PCR tests which will produce results in just 3-4 hours and help improve passenger traffic flow through Dubai International.
