The bi annual Orthodontic summit has been part of the venuesworld.com™ calendar for 8 years and is a fantastic showcase of the skills and expertise offered by the venuesworld.com™ teams.

This year there were 650 attendees to enjoy a series of educational, networking and social events. A wow stage set accommodated the plenary as well as breakouts sessions, round table sessions and 1:1 clinical sessions throughout. The Pavilion is always a central exhibition space to showcase the very latest in their products and technology to their international clients attending – demonstrations, product displays, photo booth and much more.

Arts Hotel

This world renowned city landmark  was built around the time of the 1994 Spanish Olympics, and later refurbished in 2006.  The Arts Hotel has absolutely renewed the energy and business within the region, thanks to the stunning design and top quality facilities. An exclusive luxury hotel much sought after in the events industry, the Arts Hotel is extremely difficult for reserve. Speaker Dinner – Casa Mila, La Pedrera

The last civil work designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, built between the years 1906 and 1910 provided an elegant and unique experience for the VIP & Speaker dinner. The attendees were delighted to be able to visit such a historical place before getting down to business.

Gala Dinner – Maritim Museum

The all singing, all dancing gala dinner is a great fun way to end the event. With exclusive use of an historical city landmark, the guests enjoyed drinks and a gypsy rumba in Grada Mayor – housing a replica of a medieval rowing boat.  Dinner, drinks and dancing in full nautical theme kept the guests thoroughly entertained into the night.  This provided a memorable and unique end to close the event until 2017.

Challenges

Operating an event at the beginning of September still in official holiday time for the country – meant that many suppliers were completely closed for August. This represented some challenges regarding any last minute requirements and details.

Following an extensive venues search, Hyatt Regency Embarcadero was chosen as the right venue to host this key conference in the MeeGo calender. More than 1000 delegates from the technical world gathered to participate.

Highlights

After an eventful and productive week in Dublin, the final night was celebrated in true Irish fashion, with a visit to the luscious green Wicklow Mountains, and entertainment by a talented traditional Irish band in the Johnny Foxes Pub. The evening was a perfect end to to a busy and productive week, balancing a fun energetic atmosphere with the warmth of the open fire for a more intimate and relaxed wind down.

Challenges and Solutions

The initial plan for this event was for 30 delegates, however as the project progressed the numbers for the event grew substantially to 120 people with a very short lead time. The venuesireland.com™ team made use of their strong industry relationships  to negotiate increased block bookings for accommodations throughout the week, and also resourced an expansion on the conference space, allowing for a very dramatic change to the event production. The event was an absolute success as a result, and the final scale of the event gave the local team the opportunity to demonstrate their flexibility, expertise and creative solutions.

SPP Pumps called on venuesturkey.com to assist with their collaboration meeting in Istanbul in July. The team in Istanbul quickly identified the 5 star Crown Plaza in the Old City as the best venue for the event and, with this decision agreed, focus changed to the off-site dinners and activities.

A traditional Turkish dining experience was included in the programme and no better place than the Develi Restaurant, listed among the Top 100 restaurants in the World, situated in the Byzantine Walls of Samatya, overlooking the Marmara Sea.

A tour on the last day cumulated with lunch in the gardens of the famous Yesil Ev. The walled garden of this former Sultans Mansion is home to the ‘Greenhouse Restaurant’ an oasis in the hustle bustle of central Istanbul.

Thoratec Europe Ltd. called on venuesworld.com™ to organise their inaugural European Symposium. Bringing this event to Europe from the US for the first time was a huge undertaking for the team, and also made all the more challenging by a short 5 month lead time. After looking at a number of locations, they decided to hold their conference in Prague, Czech Republic.

The local venuesczechrepublic.com™ team quickly identified suitable conference venues across Europe, and Thoratec decided to hold the conference at the InterContinental Hotel in Prague. Once the conference venue confirmed, the team focused on sourcing a memorable venue for the Gala Dinner at the convent of St. Agnes, situated on the right bank of Vltava in Prague’s Old Town. This historic former church was the perfect venue for the Gala Dinner.

2 days prior to the event taking place, Eyjafjallajökull, in Iceland, erupted sending plumes of volcanic ash into the atmosphere.
